The rest of JAC JAC in a Box - Retail Placement What is Jac in a Box? We are a training hub helping young people acquire and practice work skills. These young people may suffer from a lack of confidence or from acute social anxiety, from autism or any other barrier preventing them from getting jobs. How does it work? Jac in a Box is a real shop selling donated goods. The young people will run the shop under the supervision of volunteers. When they are work ready we have partnered with local businesses to offer them internships/work shadowing. Also many local businesses have agreed to offer interviews for suitable vacancies. How can you help? We welcome people to come in and look around as this gives our trainees the opportunity to interact with the public. You do not need to feel obliged to buy anything. However one bonus is that anything you do buy you choose how much you pay for it! We believe people know what is a fair price but also they know what they can afford. Young people wanting to work with us The training scheme we offer will be certified by AQA/City & Guilds and focuses on learning and developing retail management skills. The certificate in workplace readiness is particular to the Training Hub and includes such modules as timekeeping, customer service, how to work a till, stock rotation, personal hygiene and presentation, making a cup of tea, shop presentation, etc. All our young people work towards a certificate in workplace readiness. We also plan to offer 2 accredited AQA/City & Guilds supported internships in retail management where all support is provided by our Training Manager alongside practical on-the-job training. We provide work experience placements for pupils in local schools and colleges. Testimonial "Thank you so much for the wonderful experience you gave to our learners this year. They have thoroughly enjoyed it and it has been a pleasure working alongside you and your team. You all made them, myself and our Teaching Assistant very welcome. I have also been asked to send a massive thank you from our Primary Manager for the wonderful books you have kindly donated to us. These have all been put to good use in the libraries and classrooms and are directly benefitting our learners. Please think of us if you need to recycle books as we would gladly take them off your hands to save them going to landfill. We look forward to seeing you when you present the certificates."
